What is Brighter Shores
Brighter Shores is a brand new MMO just announced spearheaded by original Runescape creator and industry veteran Andrew Gower. The description on steam: “It is an enchanting point-and-click style RPG with hundreds of hours of gameplay, set in a land of magic and mysteries, with a huge number of professions to try, and something new to find around every corner.” What does all that mean? MMO Experience
Brighter Shores is an MMORPG. There is a magical world you can explore with quests that need completing. The game has listed classes of Cryoknight, Guardian or Hammermage. There is a “huge number of professions such as Fisher, Forager, Chef, Woodcutter, Miner, Alchemist Stonemason, Merchant, Blacksmith, and many more! There is a true MMO feel to this game and a heavy emphasis on the RPG side. A main story will be released in an “episodic format” and will include a ever advancing central story, new zones, and side quests. The game will be released as a Free to Play and Premium Pass option.
Runescape Connection
The top comment on a large publisher goes “looks like runescape.” Although there are similarities we believe Brighter Shores has the opportunity to be its own highly successful game completely separate from Runescape. The similarities are very apparent, such as clicked based movement, and graphics simular to Runescape 3. The professions are also similar to Runescapes but every MMO has skills and progressions so it would be an unfair comparison to do so.
Release Date
According to Steam and other publications Brighter Shores is expected to release this year! Sometime during Q3 2024 as an early access game. The games is stated to have a Free to Play model as well as a Pay to Play experience but stated there would be no microtransactions or MTX.
Final Thoughts
First and foremost this game looks like it could be an amazing experience. Everything about it points to a success and should be a hit to players who are into this kind of MMORGP. The background from the creator indicates industry veterans are on board which is reassuring to MMO fans. The art looks fun and cozy and the gameplay is looking immersive and intriguing.
