This guide will be explaining the different ways to avoid getting caught by BT’s in Death Stranding. Following the events of the Death Stranding, certain beings are known as Beached Things (BT’s), their souls are left stranded in the world of the living. BTs are known to be very lethal and virtually always hostile to living things.
Crouching
Enter a crouching stance by pressing circle (PlayStation) or C (PC) whenever your odradek arm flashes to indicate that the BT’s are nearby. This is the first step in avoiding being heard and discovered, which is the major priority.
Utilize the Odradek scanner. Frequently
Sam can see nearby BT’s by pressing R1 (PlayStation) or Q (PC). This can be used in together with the arm’s signals to provide you with a precise position of the BTs that the arm is alerting you to.
Use the signals from the arm
Your Odradek scanner’s arm will extend when BT’s are around, which can serve as a signal of their presence. It can send out one of three signals, and it will always take you to the closest BT
Blue & Clicking Slow: While BTs are in the region, this signal indicates that they are farther away and do not now pose a threat.
Blue & Clicking Fast: While you are not in immediate danger, try to get away from this signal, this signal indicates that the BTs are even closer than the first signal.
Orange & Spinning Very Fast: You need to know how to react when BTs are right on top of you in Orange and Spinning so that you don’t be caught. When this indicator appears, you should hold your breath. Speaking of which:
Breath Control
When BTs are close by and you notice that your odradek arm’s signal is flashing orange and whirling erratically. They are sufficiently close to hear your breathing and can locate you based only on that. When the signal becomes orange, hold down the R1 (PlayStation) or Left Alt (PC) button to hold your breath. Your stamina gauge, which is represented by a blue bar close to your character, will decrease as you do this. Once the arm goes back to blue, you can let go of your held breath. But be careful when you release, you’ll take a small breath in. If your stamina runs out completely, you’ll gasp for air. Avoid taking a deep breath when the signal is orange and wait for it to change blue instead because both of these will provide an audible hint to the BTs on your position.
Fight the BT’s
A black circle will emerge from the ground and arms will extend to grab you and pull you down if the BTs locate you and catch up with you. Come out of your crouched position by pressing circle (PlayStation) or C (PC) and rapidly press square (PlayStation) or V (PC) to shake off the BT’s. When you’ve successfully gotten out of the black circle, crouch back down and resume your normal dodging of the BTs.
You should now be fully informed on How To Avoid Getting Caught By BT’s!
